Ode to Albertsons

Hey all!

We are back, and had a splendid time. We had a beautiful, white Christmas, went sledding for the first time with little Brooks and spent lots of time with family and friends. I can't believe how fast the time flew. I will post some pics a little later. For now, however, I think it is important to pause and give credit where credit is most certainly due . . .
. . . to the kind employees at the Lake Grove Alberstons. Really, is there a front-end manager anywhere in the world quite like David? I was greeted with a smile on aisle two. Asked about my New Year's on aisle three. And when it was time to checkout, forget it. I was shown the royal treatment. Should have rolled out the red carpet. David unloaded my cart onto the conveyor belt then, ran around to bag my groceries for me. All the while, the kind checker (name slips my mind at the moment) chatted with me all about his trip to New York for Christmas. Then, of course, they offered to take out my groceries, I refused, so David ran to grab one of the bag boys and insisted that he at least bring in my cart for me. I was most impressed and felt pretty special, mind you.

Now this isn't the first time that such treatment has occurred. In fact, it's quite the norm. So for now, it seems, that Albertsons has formed a special place in my heart. Coming from a loyal, former checker at Bowman's Market, that is really saying something. Oh Albie's, I'm gonna miss ya! I believe their tag line at the moment reads, "Albertsons, crazy about food." Well, Albertsons, I'm crazy about you!

Yes, I'll agree, the service at LG Albertson's is smashing. However, their apples were soooo expensive when I went last night! I usually buy the reddish-pink ones (Gala? Pink Lady? I dunno.) But they were 3.99 a pound! Really, I go to Utah for two weeks, and I come back to see inflation rearing its ugly head. And gas is 20 cents cheaper in Utah right now too. So, there are two more things to add to your Pro/Con moving list (Okay, I know you guys have already made up your minds about moving, but if I pretend like I don't know that I can live in my happy little bubble for just a little longer.)

Is David the one who looks really young..but actually has like 6 kids? If so, I SO ditto this post! I have grown quite fond of them actually. I may put them on my Christmas card list for next year :)

Wow! That is impressive. And don't think you are going to get that treatment at any Albertsons here in SLC, I am sorry to say you aren't.

I love this post! I think we ought to give more tributes to the people who really deserve it the most. Way to carry through with a wonderful Christmas spirit. I think I will go out and find my own David to blog about. Way to go!!!

Now there is a true Oregonian! I really think most people around here are that kind, it is a unique place that way. Jerry at the West Linn Albertsons was my very first friend in Oregon. Great memories! I just hope he honored your paper/plastic bagging preference, knowing David he sure did.

Freak...I should have been visiting Albertsons instead. Of course, I think when any store worker saw a perfectly petite, darling strawberry blonde, super nice, perfect little lady, they could be more than apt to help out! AHHHHHHHHHH! I just read your email about the 17th. What the heck. I'm calling you right now. So, get ready.

And, to top off Albertsons greatness, on Christmas Eve they had Santa there passing out candy canes as I shopped. I think Calvin got 3 of them!

I don't know David. I guess I need to go there more often, but they do have the samples at the bakery every time! There's another reason you should not be moving.
